Coal Mine Tunnel Entrance, Pennsylvania, circa 1905

Vintage Postcard Stock Imagery in the Public Domain

Anthracite coal, a natural mineral, was used as a fuel in Pennsylvania, possibly as early as 1769. The image on this postcard is of the entrance to an anthracite coal mine. I have seen this postcard referenced as Wilkes-Barre and as Scranton.

If you have any special postcard image requests, feel free to email me at my address in the sidebar menu at left. I literally have thousands of postcards, with many of them being prior to 1923.
